《刺客信條4：黑旗》時(shí)空背景將回到1715年的加勒比海，以《刺客信條3》主角康納·肯威(Connor Kenway)的祖父英國(guó)青年愛(ài)德華·肯威(Edward Kenway)為主角，敘述愛(ài)德華從參與18世紀(jì)逐漸結(jié)束的私掠戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)、轉(zhuǎn)變成為刺客聯(lián)盟對(duì)圣殿騎士的千年對(duì)抗。游戲中將出現(xiàn)如黑胡子、查理斯·范恩(Charles Vane)等多位歷史上著名的海盜王，帶領(lǐng)玩家探索西印度群島的眾多島嶼和廣大海域，重現(xiàn)那海盜的黃金年代。
